Robot automation for a more efficient production process

Controlled production day and night

Smarter production does not always start with more machines or more people. Sometimes the gain is in time. That is why we developed a robot setup for our own production that allows a CNC machine to keep running outside regular hours. The question was practical and technical at the same time: how do we keep the machine active for longer without making the process dependent on additional manual staffing?

The challenge

In high-precision manufacturing, what matters is not only what a machine can do, but above all how controlled the process around it is. A machine that is standing still produces nothing. At the same time, additional capacity must never come at the expense of accuracy, safety or quality.

The solution therefore had to do more than load and unload automatically. The robot had to fit into the existing production process, work reliably with the machine already in place and create a reproducible way of manufacturing.

The approach

We looked at the entire machining process: the machine, the product, handling, the sequence of operations and the points at which human inspection is required. Based on this, we developed a robot setup that keeps the machine producing outside regular hours.

The result

Production capacity is used more effectively. The machine can also keep running at night and, in practice, production runs six days a week. This gives us greater control over planning, lead time and delivery reliability.

For us, this is more than an internal improvement. It shows how we approach engineering: first understand what the process needs, then design what works technically, and finally make something that is fully controlled and repeatable.

  • Production runs six days a week
  • The machine also produces at night, without additional staffing
  • Greater control over planning and delivery reliability
